Description

MID SEPTEMBER TO LATE NOVEMBER, PART-TIME, WITH TRAINING STARTING IN LATE AUGUST.

Walk T.O.’s interactive educational walking tours explore social issues, media literacy, urban geography, the environment, art and architecture. We offer tours throughout the school year - Fall, Winter and Spring. To find out all about us, visit walkto.tours.
Position Overview:
As a guide, you will lead groups of 15-35 elementary, intermediate, and senior level GTA students, and their teachers, on some of our six city walks. Our walks are more interactive than a regular walking tour, incorporating small group work, role play, problem-solving, and collaboration throughout.
We are seeking a dynamic and adaptable facilitator who excels at setting a positive and inclusive tone, leading group activities, fostering collaboration, and creating an engaging and educational experience through interactive elements.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead interactive and educational walking tours for students in grades 4-12.
  • Facilitate small group work, role play, problem-solving, and collaborative activities.
  • Adjust tour approach based on the group’s dynamics and interests.
  • Present information in a creative and engaging manner.
  • Ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

Seasonal Availability:

  • Fall Season: Late September to mid-November (paid training starting in late August)

Requirements:

  • Passion for interacting with students from grades 4-12.
  • College or University degree, with experience teaching or working with young people.
  • Experience leading and engaging large groups.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to set a positive and inclusive tone and read and adapt to group dynamics.
  • Ability to memorize and convey a large amount of material.
  • Availability for at least three weekday mornings per week (9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) from mid September to late November (Fall season)
  • Reliable and committed to the full season of part-time guiding. Great for freelancers and part-time workers. Please do not apply if you are searching for full-time work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background or strong interest in urban geography, art, media, the environment, and social issues.
  • Creativity in presenting information and guiding activities.
  • Patience and empathy to handle diverse student needs and maintain a positive learning environment.

Training and Development:

  • Paid training will be partially self-guided (home study) and partially in-person, covering core content and interactive elements.

Pay: $27 per hour for facilitating/guiding; plus training paid at minimum wage. Hourly wage increases with seniority.
To apply, email your resume, a cover letter and your availability for the fall season (which weekday mornings you are available and any absent time needed).
