Position Title: Educational Talent Search I Counselor Department: 2820|Special Services Responsibilities: The Educational Talent Search counselor is under the general supervision of the TRIO Directors/Associate Director of Off Campus TRiO programs/Project Director of Educational Talent Search I and work with TRIO participants and TRIO staff to meet the goals and objectives as stated in the approved grant proposal. Educational Talent Search Counselors are responsible for recruiting, counseling, monitoring and advising eligible participants. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: •Primarily responsible for recruiting and counseling eligible participants. •Interpret data, gather, organize, and make available general information helpful to project participants. •Assist in the preparation and writing of grant proposals. •Hold individual and group counseling sessions for more effective utilization programs. •Maintain and submit accurate records of all services provided to participants. •Assist in managing and maintaining files on eligible participants. •Implement supportive services and proposal activities in accordance with the regulations of the Department of Education and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. •Assist the TRIO Director/Assistant Director with the implementation of Program services and perform other responsibilities assigned by the Program Director of Educational Talent Search. Qualifications: Required Qualifications -Bachelor’s degree required (Master degree preferred) in the area of counseling, education, communications, psychology, social work, or related field. -Experience working with low-income/first-generation/disabled students.
