CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs, is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with pupils, staff and families.
• Patience, empathy and a commitment to supporting children’s well-being and learning.
• Ability to adapt flexibly to the needs of the pupil.
• A good understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to child protection.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to a Key Stage One pupil with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the pupil’s academic engagement, emotional well-being and social development, ensuring they can fully access learning in a nurturing and structured environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide individualised support to the designated pupil, helping them engage with learning activities and build confidence.
• Implement strategies to support the pupil’s social and emotional development.
• Work closely with the class teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to adapt teaching approaches to meet the pupil’s needs.
• Monitor and record the pupil’s progress, providing feedback to staff and parents as required.
• Foster a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil, promoting resilience and independence.
