POSITION DESCRIPTION:

RECEPTIONIST (Temporary, PART-TIME)
We are currently inviting applications for the temporary, part-time position of Receptionist. This role provides lunch-hour reception coverage for both the Junior and Senior Schools, working approximately 10 hours per week (11:30 am to 1:30 pm). The position is to cover a leave of absence from September to October 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension. The schedule follows the school calendar, and some flexibility is required throughout the contract to provide additional coverage for absences due to illness, school events, or leaves as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of two years of related work experience; experience in a not-for-profit or school environment is an asset.
  • Current certification in Standard First Aid.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a warm, inclusive, and welcoming approach, and the ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment where interruptions are frequent.
  • Observant, attentive, and proactive in maintaining awareness of activities in and around the school.
  • Proficient computer skills, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Ability to respond calmly and confidently to student needs and align with the Southridge ethos and values.
  • Professional, approachable, and respectful manner when engaging with students, families, colleagues, and visitors.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively as part of an administrative support team.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Junior and Senior School reception areas by maintaining a welcoming and professional environment for visitors and all members of the Southridge community.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for prospective families and other visitors to the school.
  • Respond to admissions-related inquiries, answer incoming calls, greet guests, and provide appropriate school information and materials.
  • Welcome, direct, and track all visitors while ensuring Southridge security protocols are clearly communicated and consistently followed.
  • Coordinate and manage incoming telephone calls, directing them appropriately.
  • Monitor and track school keys kept at reception.
  • Provide basic first aid support for minor injuries, maintain the student health/sick room, and dispense/log medication in accordance with school procedures.
  • Contact caregivers when needed to support student well-being.
  • Support evacuation and safety procedures during fire, earthquake, and lockdown drills or emergencies as required.
