QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Completion of an accredited/formal EEG program or on the job training required.
  • Neuro-anatomy course a plus.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • One to three years previous experience in a hospital related environment required.

Responsibilities
  • Assure maximum comfort for the patient and provides education necessary to ensure patient s acceptance of the procedure.
  • Complete and submits all billing and financial information on a daily basis.
  • Comply with Infection Prevention policies and protocols including isolation procedures and hand washing.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and skill in performance of ambulatory EEG procedures with pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and skill in performance of cerebral death studies and sleep-deprivation studies in adult/geriatric, pediatric and infant/neonate patients.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and skill in performance of video EEG procedures with pediatric, adult and geriatric patients
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and skill in selecting proper electrodes and montages for test ordered for all patient populations. Obtains artifact free tests. Recognizes and reports any unusual occurrences specific to adult patients to the Neurologist and RN (as appropriate).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and skill in use of EEG equipment. Capable of performing ordered procedures for adult/geriatric, pediatric, infant/neonate patients, including proper operation and safety.
  • Ensure proper functioning of equipment. Performs trouble-shooting procedures for minor equipment issues.
  • Prepare graphs for physician interpretation. Maintains all records, reports, log books as required.
  • Provide routine cleaning of equipment after each use and ensures readiness for next patient.
  • Report to work on time and prepared for duties. Provide timely, clear and accurate hand-off to incoming shift or upon transfer of patient.
  • Schedule and performs EEG studies in accordance with department policies, procedures and standards.
  • Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service.
  • Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records.
  • Demonstrates professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Supports teamwork by cooperative problem solving through participation in meetings, projects, etc.
  • Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions
