Distributing world-wide, Sealweld Industrial Materials Canada “Sealweld Canada” specializes in valves, greases, and lubricants for the oil and gas industry.

JOB SUMMARY

This position assists Sealweld Canada in environmental, health and safety (“EH&S”) compliance and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

· 3 – 5 years’ experience in a plant or regulatory environment.
· Experience working with and proven understanding of various governmental regulations.
· Experience with U.S. regulatory requirements under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) considered an asset.
· Self-starter; quick learner; decision-maker.
· Ability to audit EH&S systems, processes, etc.
· Extensive experience working with air emissions, wastewater, and other potentially hazardous pollutants.
· Working knowledge of federal operating permits.
· Established history of working with regulatory agencies.
· Ability to multi-task; good organizational skills.
· Excellent computer skills including ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, various email and internet applications, databases, government systems, etc.
· Proficient English communications skills, both oral and written.
· The successful candidate must have a valid passport or be willing and able to obtain one for U.S. travel.
· Occasional travel to U.S. locations as needed to support EHS initiatives and ensure consistency across operations.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s of Arts or Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field preferred or a combination of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

· Ensures ongoing environmental, health and safety compliance and performance at Sealweld in accordance with corporate guidelines and applicable laws.
· Provides support for environmental, health and safety compliance and issues at each facility; coordinates and/or assists in development and maintenance of health, safety and security policies, procedures and training.
· Investigate incidents, near-misses, and non-compliance events, recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
· Maintains compliance with internal and external audits for COR certification. Candidate must be certified to perform COR audits for annual internal inspection.
· Reviews existing and new regulations pertaining to environment, health, safety and security, provides interpretation and support for facilities; assists in efforts to determine method for compliance. This includes maintaining ISN, Avetta, and Comply Works, WCB, etc.
· Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs to ensure compliance with Canadian and U.S. regulations, including provincial standards (Alberta OHS) and U.S. regulatory requirements (OSHA).
· Assists facilities in completion and submission of applicable federal, provincial, and local compliance reports and permits according to applicable regulatory guidelines.
· Provides assistance to emergency response teams.
· Performs audits and inspections of facilities to ensure compliance.
· Provides environmental, health, safety and security support for capital and growth projects and corporate initiatives as needed.
· Interfaces with facilities, contactors, and other stakeholders to further the environmental, health and safety mission and objectives, and assist in the management of environmental, health, safety and security issues facing the company and facilities.
· Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of EH&S principles and values.
· Performs other duties assigned by management that fall within the generally expected scope of this position.
