Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking dedicated Interim SEN Plan Writers to help manage rising demand in the service and ensure that each Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is of the highest quality. This vital role ensures that EHCPs accurately reflect each child or young person’s needs and that statutory assessments and plans are delivered within the 20-week statutory timeframe.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with EHC Coordinators to develop and produce Education, Health and Care Plans.
  • Collate and interpret information from families, professionals, and support services to populate clear, accurate EHCPs.
  • Produce and amend EHCPs that reflect any changes to a child or young person’s needs.
  • Ensure plans are produced in line with statutory guidance and the SEN Code of Practice.
  • Attend multi-agency meetings where appropriate to support plan development.
  • Draft preparatory notes, collate reports and provide support to EHC Coordinators.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices and processes for plan writing and quality assurance.
  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues across health, social care and the voluntary sector.
  • Keep SEN Team Managers informed of any operational issues, including customer satisfaction concerns.
  • Take responsibility for an agreed area of SEND development, as identified by SEN Team Managers.
  • Be prepared to deliver or participate in plan writing and quality assurance training.
