LOCAL GOVERNMENT REORGANISATION (LGR)

Surrey County Council is preparing for Local Government Reorganisation which will allow us to implement the Government led policy of devolution, which is all about giving more powers to local areas.
Currently, Surrey has a two-tier council system, with 11 district and borough councils and a county council, all responsible for different services. All these councils will be reorganised into a smaller number of new unitary councils which will come into effect in April 2027. At this point, this role will be transferred, with all existing terms and conditions intact into one of the new unitary councils.

Our SEND services work together to deliver timely, effective support that leads to positive outcomes. We focus on building strong, respectful relationships with families, schools, and partner organisations, with relational and restorative working practices underpinning all our work.
As an EHCP Coordination Officer, you’ll be part of a busy area SEND team, primarily focused on managing the statutory annual review process. You’ll work directly with families, using a person-centred approach to maintain and update Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). You’ll coordinate input from Education, Health, and Care services to ensure each child receives the right support for their needs. You’ll also advise schools and other settings, helping to ensure EHCPs are clear, accurate, and high quality. Reflective practice and continuous improvement are key to this role, and you’ll be part of a team that puts the child at the centre of everything we do.
