Overview
This role is remote, however candidates must live close to a major airport
The EHR Training Specialist is a knowledgeable and dynamic trainer who will provide training and support to clinical and non-clinical staff in the use of athena Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Practice Management system. The EHR Training Specialist will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging, role-based training sessions, creating instructional materials, and supporting users during athenanet go-live events and system upgrades.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Education, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years experience with an EHR system, athena strongly preferred
  • Prior experience delivering staff training, remotely or in person.
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare operations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual training platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Self-motivated and self-starter who can work well under minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work off-hours during go-lives.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable insured automobile required. Must be able to travel up to 80% of the time.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver instructor-led, virtual, and e-learning training for clinical and administrative staff on EHR use.
  • Customize training programs based on specific roles (e.g., physicians, nurses, front-desk staff). Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and ongoing support.
  • Collaborate with functional areas such as revenue cycle management and clinical operations to create and distribute training materials regarding athena, updates, and common problem areas
  • Iterate training agendas and plans to keep updated and to improve over time
  • Maintain knowledge of athena EHR system changes and healthcare regulatory requirements
  • Plan and communicate training logistics to ensure alignment with practice being trained.
  • Participate in testing and validating EHR workflows and enhancements prior to deployment.
  • Follow all applicable federal/state regulations with respect to Confidentiality and HIPAA, among others.
  • Establish working relationships and collaborate with office staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
