Description
Assist with workstation-level risk assessments and document corrective actions per MESH requirements. Support non-routine task planning (pre-job briefs) and help implement controls for high-risk work. Conduct safety walks and near-miss reviews to promote a proactive safety culture. Support programs such as machine safeguarding, energy control/LOTO, and safe operating practices. Assist with hazard communication, powered industrial trucks, hazardous and universal waste programs, including inspections, records, and corrective actions. Contribute to site sustainability initiatives (waste, water, energy) and compliance tasks (e.g., stormwater, contractor coordination). Analyze incident trends, inspection results, and risk data; help prepare EHS metrics and reports. Support internal assessments against MESH criteria and help close gaps with action plans. Build concise visuals, toolbox talks, and leader-standard-work boards to communicate safety and environmental controls. Actively enrolled in a Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering/Science, Industrial/Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related program. Minimum 3.0 GPA. Relocation is not provided for this role. Only candidates residing within 50 miles of Troy, IL will be considered. Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Coursework or experience in EHS management systems (ISO 14001/45001), MESH, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, or environmental compliance. Familiarity with risk assessment/JSA-JHA, incident investigation, and control hierarchy. OSHA-10/30 training, or willingness to complete site-provided training. Strong analytical skills; proficiency in Excel/PowerPoint (Power BI a plus). Clear communication and a collaborative, hands-on approach. Experience turning data into action using site risk assessment tools and visualizing safety metrics.
