Our facility in Singapore has key functions in research and development, procurement, sales and finance for our Lighting and Detection business lines, in addition to key functions related to our Optics Manufacturing capabilities.
This site produces optical lenses such as spherical, aspherical and plano optics, with large machine shop capabilities and expertise in optical coating and assembly. Our photonic products and solutions serve a wide range of markets and applications in the areas of medicine, life science, industrial manufacturing, defense, and aerospace, as well as research and development.
We are presently seeking an EHS Engineer that will lead the full spectrum of Environmental, Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) of the site and ensure full compliance with applicable legal requirements, ISO14001 and ISO45001 requirements as well as industry best practices.

Main responsibilities:

  • Experienced in managing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, including the development and maintenance of operational control elements and alignment of existing and new procedures.
  • Ensure that all facilities and equipment are operated in full compliance with safety regulations and applicable legal requirements.
  • Ensure continuous operational compliance by maintaining the company’s legal, license, and permit registers.
  • Maintain relevant licenses, submit reports to regulatory bodies, and support regulatory declaration processes such as REACH, RoHS, and Conflict Minerals.
  • Accountable for the implementation of written laser safety procedures and policies for each laser design.
  • Develop, implement, and review laser safety audit programs.
  • Provide guidance in evaluating laser-related safety incidents and determining corrective actions.
  • Manage site hazardous substances and maintain the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) database with relevant stakeholders.
  • Enhance the site’s safety culture by supporting the development and execution of safety and occupational health awareness programs, including initiatives to promote employee well-being.
  • Manage emergency safety equipment to ensure timely updates and sustained effectiveness by the responsible PICs (Persons In Charge).
  • Manage training plans, identify training needs, and deliver EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) training sessions.
  • Maintain a comprehensive risk management program, including regular reviews of risk assessments, machine safeguarding, Management of Change (MOC), SGSecure, and business continuity plans.
  • Follow up on issues raised during monthly EHS committee meetings and inspections.
  • Conduct incident investigations and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) reporting, including coordination with affected departments for timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Assist the Facilities & Equipment Maintenance team in reviewing contractors’ risk assessments and ensuring compliance with contractor safety management requirements.
  • Support or lead improvement projects and tasks such as product line expansions, re-layouts, or the installation of new equipment.
  • Prepare Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for energy, water, and waste management across sites and offices.
  • Monitor and improve sustainability metrics, including carbon emissions, energy usage, water consumption, waste generation, and recycling performance.
  • Apply for and maintain all required licenses from local authorities, including those related to Radiation/Laser, Pressure Vessels & Machinery (PV&M), and Hazardous Substances.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health.
  • More than 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of local regulations, Codes of Practice, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experienced in hazardous substance management.
  • Experienced in CERT (Company Emergency Response Team) management.
  • Experienced in Laser Safety license application and registration.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional departments.
