Job Description Position: EHS Field Coordinator Primary Location: North Vancouver, BC Schedule: Full time - Monday to Friday – 40 hours work week. Overtime needed as per business needs and training objectives. Reports to: Operations Manager Compensation: $100,000 - $110,000 per year + bonus + benefits The range shown reflects the targeted pay scale. Actual pay within the range depends on work location and factors such as skills, experience, and education. Specific salary details can be discussed during the hiring process. About this Role and About You The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Field Coordinator is is responsible for implementing and maintaining EHS programs & equipment at the North Vancouver site. EHS programs include, but are not limited to: environmental, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, product safety, Responsible Care, emergency response and planning, loss prevention, process safety, security and medical programs. The EHS Field Coordinator tracks and manages employee training, supports permitting and reporting, auditing, and recordkeeping. Maintains appropriate safety supplies by making inventory audits and ordering materials. General support of the Chemtrade EHS culture, with an emphasis on continual improvement. The EHS Field Coordinator performs other tasks as assigned by the site leadership to support the plant. Qualifications Knowledge Completion of a university or institutional degree in environmental engineering or science, occupational health or safety, industrial hygiene, or another relevant field preferred but not required. Minimum 3-5 years of related safety management, environmental and/or supervisory responsibility preferably in chemical manufacturing or related environment. Advanced knowledge of EHS regulations, management systems, regulatory agencies, trends and resources. Competencies Professional and/or industry certifications in environmental, safety, or industrial hygiene Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, etc. Training or knowledge of Hazardous material response (40 hr. Haz-Mat Technician level) and confined space rescue. Ability to identify hazards in a heavy industry environment and conduct occupational hazard assessment. Participate in Process Hazard Assessments. Knowledge of Responsible Care, Responsible Care Codes or other EHS Management Systems. Familiarity with ANSI, API, NFPA and other recognized industry standards. Knowledge of databases and ability to use databases for trending. Knowledge of workers' compensation requirements. First Aid / CPR Certification preferred. Ability to adapt to changing list of priorities based on needs of the company, regulatory compliance, and management of risk. Responsibilities Front-line, visible safety leadership from a centrally located office within the operating Chlor-Alkali plant. Interfaces with site personnel to identify hazards, and to develop and implement measures in accordance with the hierarchy of controls. This could include the review and approval of specific work permits, as well as participation in incident investigation teams, safety audits, design reviews, process safety reviews, project review teams, and/or job task analysis. 30% Maintains site management systems: Employee Training/Certification Records, Incident Database, Action Item Database and including routine reporting, audits 30% Support Emergency Response program by participating in drills, coordinating responses with local fire/rescue services. 10% Promotes proactive safety participation and encourage workforce participation in hazard reporting and mitigation. 10% Support incident reporting and investigation through RCA. 5% Implements and maintains environmental, health and safety programs and policies to meet or exceed compliance with National, Provincial, and local regulations, internal policies and customer requirements including environmental, safety, transportation, security, Responsible Care Codes and RC 14001 requirements. 10% Participates in Quality Assurance and supporting continual improvement under the ISO 9000 and RC14001 process. 5% Other duties as assigned. 5% What Chemtrade Offers You!
