POSITION SUMMARY

The EHS Manager is responsible for creating a safer workplace by promoting a strong safety culture and working with the facility’s team to identify and reduce potential hazards, aiming to lower the number of workplace injuries. This position is also responsible for developing programs to ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. Incumbent ensures completion of required environmental, health and safety training. The EHS Manager acts as primary liaison between third party auditors, governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, internal auditors, and management. The EHS Manager provides direction and coaching to all functional managers in the plant in the improvement of environmental, health, and safety metrics.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field

  • 5 years experience in environmental, health, and safety coordination

  • Have a mechanical aptitude that enables you to evaluate how safe equipment is and lead cross functional improvement teams.
  • The ability to learn and comply with environmental regulations
  • Track record of successful employee engagement
  • Working knowledge of EPA and Pennsylvania environmental regulations
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and consensus standards
  • Working knowledge of DOT and IATA regulations
  • Working knowledge of chemical spill containment and clean up
  • Working knowledge of hazardous waste management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Environmental Health and safety or related field
  • Contacts outside the organization include regulatory agencies such as the EPA, OSHA, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Local emergency Planning Committee, Cambridge Springs Emergency Services, and the Cambridge Springs fire Department.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001
  • Experience with completion and submission of required environmental compliance reporting for air emissions; waste disposal; storm water, chemical and SARA Title III
  • CSP - Certified Safety Professional
  • CIH- Certified Industrial Hygienist

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for guiding the facility to reduce risks by further developing a culture of safety and eliminating safety hazards. This includes being heavily involved with operators and employees to understand and prevent safety risks.
  • Responsible for compliance with all applicable environmental laws and regulations.
  • Being the principal Emergency Coordinator and is prepared to respond to on-site emergencies involving people, products, or waste.
  • Having direct responsibility for completing and submitting all required regulatory reporting for air emissions, toxic chemicals, waste disposal, storm water discharges and hazardous materials reporting.
  • Leading the facility Carbon Reduction initiatives, including the Green Team.
  • Leading the plant’s Safety Star Point Team, 14001 internal auditing team, and the Emergency Response Team
  • Involvement with any new equipment, new processes, etc. introduction and implementation to determine all safety regulations are handled properly
  • Onsite contact for Corporate EHS Department and under their direction manage OSHA actions such as, but not limited to, inspections, letters of noncompliance, informal conferences.
  • Coordinate all EHS training.
