Description
Waste Management and Handling Collect, label, and segregate hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams according to appropriate regulatory and company requirements. Inspect and maintain waste storage areas (satellite and central accumulation areas) for compliance with environmental regulations. Coordinate waste pickups and manifesting with approved disposal vendors. Operate waste handling equipment such as compactors, neutralization systems, or wastewater treatment units (as applicable). Ensure proper storage and disposal of universal waste (batteries, printed circuit boards, electronic assemblies, etc). Maintain accurate waste accumulation logs, manifests, inspection records, and disposal documentation. Support periodic inspections and audits by internal EHS, external agencies, or third parties. Assist in preparation of required environmental reports such as hazardous waste summaries or biennial reports. Ensure compliance with EPA, RCRA, DoT, and OSHA standards, including Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER). Support spill response, cleanup, and reporting efforts, as needed. Conduct environmental sampling (e.g. - waste and storm water, or solid waste), as directed. Assist with chemical inventory management and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) updates. Provide training or guidance to production personnel on waste segregation and environmental best practices. Participate in environmental and sustainability initiatives to drive zero waste goals. High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field preferred. 2+ years of experience in industrial waste handling, hazardous waste management, or environmental operations preferred. RCRA and DoT hazardous waste shipping certifications preferred. Working of environmental regulations (e.g. - RCRA, DoT, and EPA). Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and safety compliance. Ability to operate forklifts, drum handlers, and other material handling equipment (training provided). Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic recordkeeping systems. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work involves exposure to industrial chemicals, odors, and outdoor conditions. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while handling industrial waste. Work primarily in manufacturing and warehouse environments, with outside work required, with regular interaction across production, facilities, third party contractors, and the EHS&S team.
