EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3 years of experience in related field.
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety or related field preferred.
  • General working knowledge of regulatory safety and environmental standards, (OSHA, EPA, etc)
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information predominantly technical in nature and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Skillful in presentation skills both in preparation and delivery is preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Creates mechanisms for assessing and addressing risks or hazards to plant, and transport personnel and environment.
  • Monitors existing infrastructure and processes for compliance and potential risks or hazards; coordinates EHS audit/inspection program.
  • Investigates causes of accidents, injuries, or illnesses; prepares reports of findings and solutions for minimizing or preventing recurrence.
  • Conducts research and assessment of the proper use, selection, and limitations of major safeguarding devices, personal protective equipment, and the like.
  • Provides support to plant manager or site leader in addressing EHS-related issues.
  • Maintains necessary documentation for internal or governmental regulations and standards. Provides documentation to internal or external auditors as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements by routine plant evaluation and strong floor presence.
  • Coordinates emergency-management activities for the site, including conducting routine emergency drill exercises.
  • Implements education and training programs for good health and safety practices.
  • Follows investigation practices and procedures for all incidents and near misses to determine the causes and the corrective actions necessary to prevent recurrences. Meets corporate reporting targets by timely completion of investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Engages with employees to address EHS-related concerns and follows through on open issues to closure.
  • Coordinates employee scheduling with onsite/at-clinic early intervention program.
  • Maintains accurate recordkeeping data as required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
  • Implements effective emergency response action programs. Collects and analyzes injury data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Maintains data, records and documents in a confidential manner.
  • Quotes, purchases, and allocates necessary items to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Leads injury management efforts and communication to facilitate return-to-work program effectively in collaboration with human resources team.
  • Manages contracts related to safety and environmental systems and equipment. Coordinates annual hearing testing, medical evaluations, first aid and CPR training, fit testing and other required testing.
  • Develops and communicates incident notification reports across the Corporation in a timely manner.
  • Performs job site analyses and institute safe work procedures.
  • Facilitates the development and maintenance of EHS committees including production employee involvement.
  • Coordinates industrial hygiene monitoring activities as needed
  • Takes an active role in Corporate-level EHS activities partnering with other EHS team members across the organization.
  • Assists with ISO 14001 and 45001 implementation at assigned location
