Job Summary: The EHS Specialist is responsible for closely monitoring, implementing, and maintaining Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance during the critical transition phase from construction to operations. This role ensures that all EHS systems, processes, and controls remain compliant, effective, and ready for operational use at the Day One data center. Job Responsibilities: The applicant will mainly perform the following responsibilities: • Develop, implement, and maintain the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management System in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company standards. • Ensure all construction activities comply with EHS requirements, client specifications, and industry best practices. • Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement effective control measures to minimize safety and environmental risks. • Review, approve, and monitor Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Permit to Work (PTW). • Provide technical EHS guidance for high-risk activities, including lifting operations, working at height, electrical works, hot work, and energy isolation (LOTO). • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and EHS site walks to monitor compliance and safe work practices. • Lead incident, near-miss, and unsafe condition investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. • Deliver safety training to employees and contractors. • Promote a positive safety culture through active engagement, communication, and leadership. • Monitor EHS performance indicators, prepare reports, and ensure timely closure of findings and corrective actions. • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and external authorities on EHS-related matters. • Ensure proper environmental management, including waste handling, chemical management, spill prevention, and pollution control. • Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activities. Required Experience, Qualifications and Education • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. An engineering background is preferred. • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) role, preferably within construction, industrial, infrastructure, or data center projects. • Strong hands-on experience managing EHS requirements for high-risk activities, including lifting operations, working at height, electrical works, hot work, and energy isolation (LOTO). • Mandatory certification as an EHS professional, such as AK3U. Additional certifications including IOSH, NEBOSH, CSP, Fire Safety, or equivalent are considered an advantage. • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable EHS laws, regulations, and standards, including local regulations and international standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA). • Proven ability to identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement effective risk control measures. • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees, contractors, and management. • Proficiency in both written and spoken English is required.
