Description

What to Expect
This is an exciting junior-level opportunity to join Tesla’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team in Australia, where you’ll provide hands-on support to our energy EHS and construction teams while building foundational skills in the energy and construction sectors. As a junior EHS Specialist, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, taking ownership of daily tasks across a broad range of EHS disciplines.
You’ll support the full construction lifecycle of projects, from contract to energization, by assisting project and construction managers in achieving their EHS obligations and enabling effective contractor management. This enables outstanding project execution and drives our mission forward. You’ll assist with critical activities, event analysis, and projects, all while demonstrating a relentless drive to get things done. This role is ideal for a hungry, hardworking individual with a hardcore attitude, eager to kickstart a career at Tesla and contribute to our mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
This position is based in either Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth and will require travel (up to 30%) to support our operations across the region.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a key member of the EHS team, supporting the broader Energy team with a proactive, can-do mindset throughout the construction lifecycle of projects.
  • Help plan, coordinate, and deliver EHS requirements for Energy projects, including creating Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Plans, tracking progress, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Support project and construction managers in achieving their EHS obligations, including contractor management, risk mitigation, and compliance across all project phases.
  • Provide input on risk assessments, procedures, work instructions, and initiatives to simplify and enhance frontline safety in construction and energy environments.
  • Collect, analyze, and report EHS data, including event reports, audits, inspections, and corrective actions; prepare performance reports, track metrics, and present findings to drive continuous improvement.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and executing local and global EHS objectives, with a focus on high-impact results that enable outstanding project execution from contract to completion.
  • Support event analysis, follow-up actions, management, and process enhancements; conduct inspections and audits on employees and contractors, enforcing standards with urgency and attention to detail.

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree or diploma in occupational safety, environmental science, project management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in construction, such as site work, safety coordination, or related fieldwork, with a proven ability to handle demanding physical and operational challenges.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and data analytics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team while operating independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong bias for action: proactive, creative, and innovative in solving problems, with a hardcore work ethic and hunger to push through obstacles.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage shifting demands, and deliver results in a high-pressure, dynamic environment.
  • Detail-oriented approach, executing tasks efficiently, accurately, and at speed; current driver’s license, willingness to obtain a police check and Working with Children Check, and readiness for travel and fieldwork.
