We are hiring an EHS Specialist who will assist the EHS Manager in all aspects of plant safety, security, training and environmental/sustainability programs. This position will have monthly on-call duties, be responsible for the day-to-day activities and will be the “boots on the floor”.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 3 years of plant experience in related industry/manufacturing, environmental management, safety, and/or security.
  • Working knowledge of air permitting, RCRA, GHG, Sustainability, EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to EHS Manager, Departmental Manager, and/or Human Resources.
Responsibilities
  • Performs hazard analysis within plant location and assists plant management teams in the development and execution of action plans for the improvement of safety and environmental performance.
  • Responsible for leading all aspects of safety, security, sustainability and environmental including compliance initiatives, training development, risk assessment, reporting, etc.
  • Develops, utilizes and monitors site safety and environmental resources to assure success.
  • Develops and maintains training programs and an EHS culture that promotes a workplace free of injuries. This includes but is not limited to developing or refining specific training i.e. emergency response, qualified electrical, PSM, respiratory protection, etc. Evaluates utilization of corporate training process and material in conjunction with local needs. In conjunction with plant leadership team, develop and coordinate plan to update and maintain all relevant plant training including work instructions.
  • Requires excellent communication skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Keeps supervisory/management personnel apprised to eliminate hazardous condition and unsafe practices.
  • Works closely with Manager of Environmental Health and Safety to implement company initiative and to lead change.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and supports operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Develops schemes for recycling, pollution reduction and pollution prevention.
  • Utilizes Glanbia Performance System (GPS) processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of MWC non-negotiables such as lead the site waste reduction teams and safety committee
  • Keeps records in accordance with good manufacturing process and local, state and federal laws.
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
