THE OPPORTUNITY

A vacancy has arisen for an EHS Specialist in Aurora, IL on a permanent basis.
We are seeking an EHS Specialist to join our Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs to ensure a safe and healthy work environment and compliance with all applicable regulations. As an EHS Specialist, you will work closely with management, employees, and other stakeholders to identify and mitigate workplace hazards, support incident management, promote a strong safety culture, and drive continuous improvement in EHS performance. This position is critical in helping us maintain a safe and compliant operation.

The Skills you will bring to the team

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of EHS programs, including but not limited to: hazard communication, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, fall protection, confined space entry, emergency response, JSAs, and environmental compliance.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities and operations to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with EHS standards. Includes, but not limited to: workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and risk analyses to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, determine root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collect, analyze, and report EHS data, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and identify trends to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop, document, and deliver EHS training programs to employees on various safety topics, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting a strong safety culture. Lead site safety committee; drive EHS employee engagement with floor presence activities.
  • Responsible for Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste disposal shipments, manifests, and satellite accumulation area inspections.
  • Responsible for managing, reviewing and approving chemical SDS for production and R & D.
  • Lead development of site Lockout Tagout (LOTO) machine specific Work Instructions (TWIs) annual completion of Coach Observations for all Authorized employees.
  • Collaborate with management, employees, and other stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture and address EHS concerns.
  • Support effective execution of Workers Compensation claims management, developing and enhancing proactive initiatives such as ergonomics, work hardening, etc., to remove hazards, reduce unsafe behaviors, WC costs, lost time injuries, and days away from work.
  • Monitor safety equipment supplies, makes orders, sets up PO’s and processes Goods Receipts.
  • Stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local EHS regulations and ensure company compliance.
