Description

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams with diverse backgrounds and skill sets
  • Ability to host and present safety topics to large groups
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • 3+ years experience in an EHS role (required)
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 Management Systems
  • Strong documentation skills with revision control
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

PERSONAL QUALITIES/BEHAVIORS:

  • This position will have exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required
  • Ability to stand, bend and walk for extended periods of time
  • Able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently
  • Primary working hours will be 10:30 PM - 6:30 AM

Responsibilities
  • Under the leadership of the EHS manager, the EHS Specialist is responsible for ensuring that Starline’s Reading, GBR facility is in compliance with all UK regulations regarding health and safety
  • Maintain an existing Emergency Action Plan, Legal Register, and Risk Management System
  • Ensure Emergency Response plans are in proper working condition and leading competency drills
  • Conduct activities related to environmental compliance, reporting, regulatory permitting, hazardous waste handling, and waste reduction / recycling programs
  • Oversee maintenance of all safety records including the MSDS database and GHS program implementation.
  • Monitor trends related to employee work-related injuries
  • Conduct monthly safety committee meetings, reporting safety metrics, and departmental safety audits
  • Demonstrate high standards of conduct and integrity
  • Additional duties as required by management
