The Environmental, Health and Safety Site and Project Specialist will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of site programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations. This individual will work with various cross-functional teams including Operations, Security, Facilities, Engineering, etc. to promote engagement and support of EHS targets, safety and health culture and regulatory compliance. This position will primarily support our Knoxville location, but will also be responsible for managing key EHS programs and projects across the Clinical business. This position reports directly to the Director of Environmental, Health and Safety.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
  • 5-10 years experience managing EHS Programs.
  • Working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations and industry EH&S standards.
  • Strong knowledge in electrical safety and high voltage including OSHA and NFPA 70E compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for workplace hazards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
  • Strong writing capabilities, especially with writing clear, concise EHS procedures.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Travel up to 20% when necessary.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification, Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) certification, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems.
  • Fall protection train-the-trainer certification.
  • Forklift train-the-trainer certification.

The annual base pay for this position is:
Min $86,700 - Max $130,000
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company’s plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing and performing the planning, inspection, reporting and recordkeeping requirements for all environmental, health and safety compliance programs.
  • Developing and implementing EHS policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining site OSHA Logs, EHS permits, licenses and registrations.
  • Investigating EHS-related incidents (including injuries, near misses, releases, etc.) to determine root causes and implement corrective action plans.
  • Managing worker’s compensation claims and return-to-work program.
  • Performing evaluations and risk assessments of existing and new processes to ensure all EHS requirements are being met and recommend improvements to eliminate, reduce or control waste, emissions, and hazards.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams on new project and process development. Serve as the primary EHS representative for all site-related projects. This includes reviewing of Management of Change forms (MoC), conducting project safety reviews, evaluating new equipment, overseeing contractors and other tasks.
  • Conducting industrial hygiene (IH) surveys, job hazard analyses (JHA) and personal protective equipment (PPE) assessments.
  • Performing ergonomic evaluations for office and manufacturing work environments.
  • Partnering with the facilities team to manage the Contractor Safety Program.
  • Conducting compliance assessments, EHS Inspections and EHS management system audits.
  • Collaborating with EHS and Training Teams to develop EHS training courses and delivering in-person training on specific EHS Topics.
  • Leading site EHS Committee and Emergency Response Teams.
  • Maintaining the chemical inventory and SDS database.
  • Managing environmental compliance activities including, but not limited to hazardous waste handling and reporting, SARA 312 Hazardous Material Reporting, SARA 313 Toxic Release Inventory Reporting.
  • Providing technical guidance to management on EHS issues and regulatory compliance.
  • Interface with EHS regulatory agencies.
  • Serve as the EHS Product Related (PREP) Environmental, Health and Safety Protection Lead. This includes collection of energy data, creation of Environmental Product Declarations, etc.
  • Manage Dangerous Goods Requests from SHS Team for MI Products and Materials.
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze EHS and Radiation Safety data and KPI’s to identify trends in EHS performance.
  • Complete Quarterly Industrial Environmental Reports (IEP) in Cority.
  • Complete Environmental Producer Responsibility (EPR) tasks such as implementation of new Packaging and EU Battery Directive requirements.
  • Lead key projects across the Clinical EHS Team such as digitalization and productivity projects, safety prescription glasses, protective footwear, etc.
  • May be required to perform other primary EHS related duties as assigned.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing backup support to the Rockford EHS Specialist and the site Radiation Safety Officer.
  • Supporting the Molecular Imaging Environmental, Health and Sustainability Initiative and establishing new policies and procedures.
  • Working with the EHS Team to maintain the Environmental Health and Safety Management System to ensure adherence to the Siemens Healthineers requirements and ISO 14001/ISO 45001 standards. This includes developing new procedures, implementing latest changes, managing required records and documentation as well as scheduling and preparing EHS Management Review presentations.
  • Working with Director of EHS to develop and maintain Business Continuity for the MI Clinical businesses. This includes working with each site team to develop and maintain the site Business Continuity Plans. Conduct annual drills of the Business Continuity Plans.
  • Assisting the Director of EHS and MI Health Management Lead with coordinating site events and implementing new initiatives.
  • May be required to perform other secondary EHS related duties as assigned.
