Description
The EHS Technician will be responsible for supporting the Environmental Health and Safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and promoting a safe and healthy workplace. Drive and promote zero incident EHS culture throughout site. Champion and lead projects designed to effectively drive improvements in our “Zero Incident Safety Culture” program(s). Assist with the implementation of MESH (Management System of Environmental, Safety, Security and Health and utilize the MESH tools to drive improvements. Support the function in EHS data analysis, data management, reporting and training while providing technical expertise to the organization. Support tracking of appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track EHS performance. Support EHS engagement through EHS teams and committees needed to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year. Assist champion for the MESH MOC process, this will include mentoring employees who perform a variety of engineering work in designing, installing, operating, and maintaining measuring apparatus necessary to determine the level of pollutants involving air, land and water. Evaluate jobs for possible ergonomic improvements (body mechanics, lifts, hoists, manipulators, etc.) and implement these work design changes. Actively investigate all accidents and near misses, identifies root causes, and ensures corrective actions are implemented. Will be the lead person for 8D on all recordable accidents. Motivate and coach employees to maintain high levels of satisfaction, productivity, and quality through effectively utilizing available rewards and recognition channels to encourage and promote desired behaviors and results. Coordinate assigned Occupational Safety and Health and other training programs, possibly including, but not limited to: Personal Protective Equipment, Forklift, First Aid, Machine Safety, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Blood Borne Pathogen, Foot Protection and Eye Protection, Confined Space, Contractor Safety and Hazard Communication. Ensure accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics and closure of assigned MESH and regulatory agency findings and assists with intermediate communication with public/government authorities; assists in providing guidance and leading resolutions actions during crises as needed. Assist coordination to ZWaD certification and water reduction programs with cross functional teams. Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response planning and drills and provide first aid as needed. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, and training activities. Hazardous Materials: Manage the proper storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving EHS processes and procedures. High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently. Ability to lift, up to 20 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions. Bilingual: English - Spanish Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of El Paso, TX will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Associate's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills including use of tact, judgment, and influencing. Proven ability in counseling/advising in various EHS needs. Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion. Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, Outlook required. Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and departments. Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
