Description Description Self Help Inc. is currently looking for an enthusiastic, passionate Early Head Start Toddler Teacher to join our team. Agency Profile Self Help, Inc. is a nonprofit Community Action Agency (CAA) created to help families and individuals stabilize and secure their lives through education, strategic assistance, and building opportunities in their communities. We provide a range of services for families and households across Southeastern Massachusetts. Job Summary The Early Head Start Toddler Teacher is responsible for assisting with the overall management and operation of a toddler classroom. This role requires implementing a developmentally appropriate, individualized curriculum that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Participate in classroom Team planning meeting with the EHS Specialist as well as other members of the EHS Team to develop classroom planning and experiences Engage in monthly planning/coaching meetings with the EHS Specialist to develop professional goals and discuss classroom experiences. Maintain and annually renew EEC Professional Qualifications Registry and complete the required training hours. Complete annual Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) according to program policy. Other Requirements Must pass a criminal background check and other required clearances Must have or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification Must meet the physical requirements of the position, including the ability to lift 50 pounds and carry young children, bend, stoop, and actively engage with children Ability to clean the classroom Assist in the bringing of toys on and off the playground Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required Hourly Rate: $20-$25 Schedule Monday-Friday Knowledge, Skills and abilities Maintain all required licenses and certification in accordance with program policies and procedures. Attend all monthly building, staff, and professional development meetings in accordance with EEC, Office of Head Start, and Self Help, Inc. Act in a professional manner representing Self Help Inc. Head Start/EHS, demonstrating a positive outlook, working well with others, and a willingness to engage in a solution-focused approach to working with parents and children. Willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Maintain good attendance and punctuality. Flexibility to adjust work schedule to accommodate and participate in agency event and activities in support of the program. Assist in covering classrooms as needed. Education & Experience Associate's degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education or related field with 4 (four) infant/toddler courses, or a valid Child Development Associate (CDA). Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Early Childhood Education a plus, but not required EEC infant/toddler Teacher certified. Classroom experience preferred but not required. Knowledge of Teaching Strategies Gold, a plus. Inter-rater Reliability certification required within three (3) months of hire. Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
