JOB SUMMARY: Under moderate supervision by the System Director Diagnostic Services, the Cardiovascular Tech I promotes and maintains quality testing practices for the Cardiovascular Lab. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   * If trained to do so, performs EEG studies according to established protocol.  * Performs Electrocardiograph (EKG's) examinations as directed according to established standards.  * Performs Holter/event monitoring hook-ups and scanning.  * Performs Unattended Sleep Study hook-ups and scanning.  * Maintains responsibility for attendance and punctuality to ensure the department is operated in an efficient and cost effective manner. * Demonstrates a commitment to the vision, mission and goals of the Organization through application of guest relations principles.  * Recognizes the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in providing services and supports the continuous effort to conserve resources while providing individualized high quality service. * Ensure patient safety and documentation in the provision of  * Cardiovascular testing.  * Considers the age of the patient served, applies knowledge of  * growth and development and age-specific techniques over the life span in planning and implementing care.  * Contributes to the performance improvement program for the  * Cardiovascular Lab.  * Adheres to current procedure protocols with appropriate test indications.  WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works in patient areas. May be exposed to communicable diseases as well as blood, body fluids, or tissue. May be exposed to chemicals used from cleaning equipment. Must be able to work under stress and be adaptable to new situations. May be subject to injury from strain of moving patients if proper techniques are not used. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs.  independently.    CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: Medical Staff, Department Directors, Medical Director, Administration, Supervisors, Associates, Patients, Families, and Visitors.    EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Knowledge and understanding of principles, practice and theories of Cardiovascular Lab services. Must have good organization and communication skills. Must be able to properly operate various types of diagnostic equipment such as EKG machine, Holter scanning, and unattended sleep study (Nexan) as well as all other equipment used in the Cardiovascular Lab. Holter scanning and EEG performance training completed within 6 months of employment.  Qualifications Two (2) years in similar healthcare related field.
Responsibilities
Perform EKG, EEG, Holter, and unattended sleep study examinations according to established protocols. Maintain quality testing practices and ensure patient safety and documentation within the Cardiovascular Lab.
