Description

ABOUT LIBERTAS COLLEGE PREP

Libertas College Prep is a high-performing charter middle school located in South Los Angeles. Founded in 2015, our mission is rooted in the belief that every student—regardless of prior academic experience—can achieve academic excellence and thrive in a structured, rigorous, and nurturing learning environment.
Libertas begins with an uncommon entry point: 4th grade. This intentional design bridges the pivotal transition from “learning to read” in third grade to “reading to learn” in upper elementary and beyond. Our literacy-intensive curriculum ensures that all students build a strong foundation in reading and writing that prepares them for long-term academic success.
We proudly serve a student population comprised primarily of low-income, first-generation college-bound scholars. Recognized for our impact, Libertas has been named a Top School by Innovate Public Schools through USC’s Rossier School of Education in 2019 and 2020, and was honored as a California Distinguished School in 2020.
