The OLEAN ELC is hiring!! POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the direction of the ELC Director, in accordance with the goals of the Olean YMCA and the regulations of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, the Aide is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the Early Learning Center. This position assists the Teacher with daily classroom prep, indoor and outdoor activities, meal time, and bathroom breaks. This is a part-time, hourly position. The Center is open Monday-Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm and hours will be scheduled accordingly.  This position also treats everyone with courtesy, respect and consideration; displays integrity; listens actively and genuinely; communicates in a clear and pleasant manner; embraces differences among people; demonstrates an active willingness to learn and grow; accepts constructive criticism; works cooperatively as a team member.  Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. This position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA are conveyed.  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  1. Be responsible for the safety of the children at all times, including being able to implement emergency procedures.  2. Interact positively with the children daily, displaying the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all program activities.  3. Perform specific tasks related to the daily operation of the ELC such as administering small group activities, art and crafts preparation, meal service, positive discipline strategies, and other tasks assigned by the Lead Teacher or Director.  4. Effectively communicate with parents, verbally and in writing. 5. Maintain the appearance of the program area, ensuring high quality of supplies, equipment and materials.  Light maintenance tasks such as sweeping, cleaning tables, and garbage removal are also expected. 6. Assist in the daily documentation of attendance, incidents, accident reports, etc. in compliance with state licensing regulations.   7. Work as a team with child care staff. 9. Attend staff meetings and in-service workshops to meet additional educational requirements established by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services. Training hours must be obtained in the first 6 months of employment; Foundations training must be completed within the first three months. 10. Attend parent-child events and other events related to your program, as requested. 11. Participate in YMCA Volunteer programs such as Annual Campaign and United Way. 12. Continue professional development through community involvement; reading; and further education. 13. Be professional, alert, and eliminate unsafe practices and physical hazards. 15. This job description may not be all-inclusive and duties may be modified when deemed appropriate by the CEO.  16. Employees are expected to perform all other duties as assigned and directed by the CEO. The Center is open Monday-Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm and hours will be scheduled accordingly.  QUALIFICATIONS:  In accordance with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, the ELC Aide must be at least 16 years of age (with working papers) and must have substantial experience working with children under the age of 13 years.  Once over the age of 18, with state clearance, can they be left alone with children.  Prior to the start of employment, documentation of a current medical statement and TB skin test must be submitted and every two years, thereafter.  Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 1 years’ experience caring for infants/toddlers and an Associate’s Degree in Early Education is preferred.  BENEFITS: - COMPLIMENTARY YMCA Membership  - Program/Child Care Discounts - Flexible Schedule - Retirement Plan Options The YMCA is an equal opportunity employment company.
