This role combines legal analysis, client guidance, intake services, and community engagement. The attorney will work closely with colleagues across the organization to ensure clients receive high-quality legal information and services while supporting efficient statewide intake operations. Essential Responsibilities · Evaluate Centralized Intake Unit applications to determine eligibility and level of service · Conduct legal research, client interviews, and fact gathering to provide legal advice and recommendations · Educate clients regarding legal options, processes, and potential outcomes · Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to serve clients effectively · Assist with daily intake operations and client service delivery · Ensure compliance with Legal Services Corporation (LSC) regulations and recordkeeping requirements · Maintain and develop knowledge of legal issues affecting elders and low-income communities · Support outreach and education efforts within the elder community statewide · Build and maintain relationships with partner agencies and community organizations · Assist in developing intake guidance materials, scripts, and documentation · Participate in AccessLine and ElderAccessLine call support as needed Requirements Qualifications We welcome applicants from a variety of legal backgrounds, including recent law graduates, newer attorneys, and attorneys seeking to transition into public interest work. Required Qualifications · Juris Doctor from an accredited law school · Licensed and in good standing with the Nebraska State Bar, or admission imminent · Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills · Ability to work collaboratively within a statewide team environment · Commitment to serving low-income and older adult communities Preferred Qualifications · Interest in elder law, public interest law, legal aid, or client-service work · Experience working with vulnerable or underserved communities through employment, internships, clinics, externships, volunteer work, or legal practice · Demonstrated commitment to public service · Bilingual language skills are a plus About the Opportunity This role offers the chance to build a rewarding legal career while helping older Nebraskans navigate important legal issues.
