DESCRIPTION

This ELECTRIC FORKLIFT MECHANIC Position Features:

  • Great Pay from $62K to $73K

The Mobile Electric Forklift Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of electric-powered forklifts and associated equipment. This role requires expertise in electric vehicle (EV) systems, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components to ensure operational reliability and environmental compliance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on electric forklifts according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems including batteries, motors, controllers, wiring, and onboard charging systems.
  • Inspect and service mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software and firmware issues in vehicle control systems.
  • Maintain accurate service records and update maintenance logs in the fleet management system.
  • Conduct driving tests and performance checks to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers for parts procurement and technical support.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Respond to field service calls and assist with on-site repairs as necessary.
  • Keep current with new technologies and ongoing training related to EV systems and diagnostics.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of experience in vehicle or heavy equipment maintenance, including electric vehicles.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electric drivetrains, battery systems, and high-voltage components.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and heavy-duty mechanical repair.
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

  • ASE Certification(s) in Heavy-Duty Truck, Electric Vehicles, or EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician).
  • Technical diploma or associate degree in automotive/electrical technology or related field.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of electric propulsion and battery technologies.
  • Proficient with diagnostic software and tools for EV systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and recordkeeping abilities.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in shop and field environments, including exposure to noise, fumes, grease, and weather.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with equipment maintenance.
  • May require occasional evening, weekend, or emergency call-out work.
  • Will be required to travel across Canada and the USA 5-7 days per month
