Responsibilities The Electric Technician position is critical in performing skilled electrical work in the maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment, apparatus and fixtures used at cement plants. In this position, you will be provided with plenty of opportunities to develop and enhance your skills, and build a career with Alamo Cement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Inspect, maintain repair and overhaul electromechanical and solid state electrical equipment, using a variety of electrical test equipment, meters, powered and non-powered tools and equipment. Install new electrical and electronic equipment and electrical wiring according to the National Electrical Code and company electrical standards. Maintain and repair electrical and electronic systems for Project facilities and equipment. Perform high voltage switching and operate generators in support of operations. Work safely and cooperatively with co-workers and the public. Comply with and practice proper equipment clearance procedures. Perform all work in compliance with applicable codes, standards, safety and environmental regulations. Responsible for station lockout/tagout procedures as mandated by company policy. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent from accredited institution is required Technical/Trade School Degree or Certificate Preferred Applicable Licenses Preferred but not required Methods, equipment and materials used in electrical trade General knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures Principles of electronic theory as applied to electrical and electronic circuits Theory of operation and use of Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) units and other computer based equipment Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others Close attention to detail Proficient written and verbal communication skills Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action Work from blueprints, shop drawings and sketches Install, including programming, and troubleshooting PLC based equipment Maintain and clean and safe working environment by complying with safety policies, practices and procedures Able to work different extended hours, holidays and/or overtime as required Speak, read, write and understand English Ability to work independently, without constant supervision Able to work inside and outside in year-round weather conditions In good physical condition, able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs., sit and stand for extended periods of time, kneel, climb ladders and walk on mixed terrain and in confined spaces Alamo Cement offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits including 401k.
