ELECTRICIAN APPRENTICE REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma and proof of successful completion of Third Year Electrician training within last 6 months
  • Commitment to completion of electrician training program
  • Able to diagnose problems using electronic test equipment
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) electrical codes
  • Eagerness to learn electrical schematics and blueprint reading skills
  • Must have basic set of personal Electrician tools, including impact driver and drill
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $30.00-$31.20 per hour

Responsibilities

SKILLS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE

  • MUST BE located in Calgary
  • Ability to follow instruction from lead technician/journeyperson
  • Ability to accurately and quickly diagnose issues/problems
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s License with no demerits
  • Clean driver’s abstract (to be provided with acceptance of Offer of Employment)
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and to stand for extended periods, sometimes at heights
  • Manual dexterity; attention to detail; eye-hand coordination; ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to work on all types of electrical scopes and services
  • Team player who understands their contributions are valuable, and who communicates professionally and respectfully to management/coworkers, suppliers, customers, etc
  • Ability to accept conflicting/changing priorities
  • Ability and commitment to use (or willingness to learn) software such as Jobber
  • Ability to perform work (repair and maintenance), and be able to use the equipment to diagnose and fix problems/issues; must be able to communicate work done/recommended, and why it was done/recommended
  • Awareness of standard timelines for completing specific repairs and maintenance; commitment to referring to senior electrician assigned if unable to complete tasks within standard timelines
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English

ELECTRICIAN APPRENTICE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Journeyperson Electrician and follow instructions
  • Prepare and clean work areas
  • Carry and deliver materials
  • Install, repair, and maintain various electrical wiring systems and equipment
  • Use measuring equipment and hand tools to perform conduit work
  • Follow safety codes, building regulations, and instructions from Journeyperson Electrician
  • Perform general housekeeping duties
  • Perform other duties as required/assigned
