Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE

An Apprentice electrician job description entails working under a qualified electrician so as to be taught the trade via first-hand experience and via structured class-based study through SOLAS.
The electrical apprentice is concerned with the installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance of: electrical wiring systems and services; electrical plant and control equipment; process monitoring and control systems. Modern process plant includes electrical, electro-mechanical, electropneumatic-, electronic- and microprocessor-based systems. In order to function effectively and efficiently, the electrical craftsperson must have abroad base of technical knowledge complementary to information gathering and analytical skills.
The ability to interpret technical data and the proper use of test instruments is critical for effective system maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification, and the installation/calibration of sensors, transmitting and controlling devices. This craftsperson must maintain effective communications with colleagues, clients and equipment suppliers. Proper maintenance, and updating of job related and equipment-related documentation is critical. All work undertaken by electrical apprentice is subject to statutory regulations governing the safety of personnel, plant, premises and the environment.

ELECTRICAL APPRENTICE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist and take directions from chargehand/forman
  • Prepare and clean work areas
  • Carry and deliver materials
  • Install, repair, and maintain various electrical wiring systems and equipment
  • Use measuring equipment and hand tools to perform conduit work
  • Follow safety codes and building regulations
  • Work towards achieving Electrical Qualification
  • Complete all Off the Job training blocks in training centre
  • Complete all On the Job training modules as required under Apprenticeship program
  • Successful completion of all trade exams
  • Achieve the required standard of performance throughout the apprenticeship.
  • Pay all student contributions required
  • Complete all required training as instructed by company (Safe pass, Manual handling, MEWP etc)
  • Uphold the highest levels of quality in line with ISO 9001:2015 standards and as per our quality management system.
