Description

THE POSITION

Norcada is currently looking for an Electronics Assembly Technologist to support the design, manufacturing, and testing of our new products. The new technologist will report to the Director of Instrument Manufacturing and Assembly, who oversees our design, manufacturing, assembly, and testing of our in-situ, instrumentation solutions.
We are seeking individuals with a technologist level education and experience with a proven track record in assembly of electrical parts, manufacturing of mechanical fixtures and jigging, execution of production plans and documentation, assembly of electronic components on PCB, and electronic testing. This is a full time, permanent position and provides medical and pension benefits.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferably a technical diploma (2-year) from a recognized college in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, or Nanosystems Engineering Technology. A university degree (4-year) in the Sciences or Engineering is also acceptable.
  • Manual dexterity and fine mechanical aptitude.
  • Hands-on skills with basic hand tools, subtractive and additive manufacturing techniques, electronics assembly, and high/ultra high vacuum systems is desired.
  • Hands-on experience with PCB soldering and rework.
  • Experience with fine pitch assembly.
  • Ability to understand electronic schematics.
  • Proficient with standard electronic test equipment.
  • Experience with Characterization tools (SEM, ZYGO, AFM, VASE, etc.) would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to learn new hardware and software quickly in a fast-paced and high-tech environment.
  • A team player with great communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work in a fast-paced technical environment.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in manufacturing and testing of electronic systems/equipment
  • Assemble, operate and evaluate equipment, and maintain production, QA/QC and test records
  • Conduct hand assembly of precision components
  • Conduct hand soldering and assembly of PCBs
  • Laser engraving and basic machining to support production
  • Receive, track and manage inventory items and spreadsheets
  • Assist with the creation of product documentation
  • Work closely with the team leader, system specialists and other cross-functional teams on manufacturing and quality control
  • Support engineering and quality control teams in product improvement
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment based on the principles of lean manufacturing
  • Ensure professionalism and adhering to the high levels of confidentiality that is required from employees of a high-tech company.
