Overview Electrical Avionics Integration Engineer - Journeyman LOCATION: WPAFB, Dayton, OH JOB STATUS: Full-Time CLEARANCE: Secret, Must be a US Citizen TRAVEL: 10% Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Electrical/Avionics Systems Engineering Support, Journeyman position supporting the Special Operations Forces and Personnel Recovery Division (AFLCMC/WIS), at Wright Patterson AFB, OH. WIS is part of the ISR/SOF Directorate (AFLCMC/WI), which is responsible for equipping our warfighters to win the fight. The Directorate executes a $22 billion acquisition portfolio developing, producing, testing, modifying, fielding, and supporting Air Force ISR and SOF platforms, and related sub-systems. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills) Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field with three years of relevant experience, including DoD support; or seven years of directly related experience with required certifications, including five years of DoD support. Degree must be from an ABET-accredited program. Strong application of engineering principles and problem-solving skills grounded in math, science, and engineering fundamentals. Experience with industry-standard engineering tools, methods, and testing. Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams with a commitment to engineering ethics and professional development. RESPONSIBILITIES: Apply multidisciplinary engineering expertise to support system development, trade studies, technical advisory services, and lifecycle sustainment. Resolve complex technical and maintenance issues across design, modification, and sustainment programs. Conduct technical analyses of design alternatives, system changes, and integration risks to support decision-making. Review and validate engineering specifications, ICDs, technical data, manuals, and documentation for compliance and accuracy. Develop and review system requirements, engineering changes, baseline updates, and technical justifications. Support airworthiness determinations, MFR development, MIL-HDBK-516 compliance, and OSS&E requirements. Provide technical direction for propulsion systems, electronic sensors, and defensive avionics to ensure performance and survivability. Translate user needs into system requirements; support CDD/CPD development, architecture reviews, and interoperability assessments. Participate in and document outcomes from design reviews (PDR, CDR, FDR), TIMs, TPWGs, and interface working groups. Support source selections and develop engineering inputs for PWSs, RFPs, CDRLs, and acquisition strategies. Serve as an Electrical Engineer on multispecialty teams supporting aircraft R&D, acquisition, production, and sustainment. Evaluate electrical systems, GSE/SE requirements, test data, and overall system performance. Review engineering changes, nonconformance reports, OEM failure analyses, and corrective actions. Support mishap investigations, risk assessments, mitigation planning, and coordination with USAF safety boards and OEMs. Assist with R&M oversight, parts procurement planning, and coordination with Equipment Specialists to address TO and support impacts. #CJ #Air Force
