Salary: £35,000 to £42,000 per year, dependant on experience
Location: Kendal, Cumbria
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time, Monday to Friday
Benefits: 25 days’ holiday, plus bank holidays, company pension and other benefits.
We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Electrical Building Services Engineer to join our growing team in Cumbria. Working closely with our Technical Director, and Associate Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of electrical design and management on a wide variety of construction and maintenance projects.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A degree or HNC in Building Services/Electrical Engineering
  • Substantial experience in a electrical engineering role
  • A commitment to professional development, ideally working towards MCIBSE
  • Confidence in conducting in electrical surveys, defect analysis, and feasibility reporting
  • High-quality electrical designs and documentation across RIBA stages
  • A supportive leader to mentor colleagues while working collaboratively across disciplines
  • Oversee site installations and ensure compliance with NEC/JCT contracts
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, NBS, and Microsoft Office
  • A strong understanding of CDM regulations, fire safety, and sustainability principles
  • A full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel across the area

Responsibilities

The Cumbria team continues to deliver a dynamic and meaningful programme of work, with recent success marked by the completion of the Maryport Activity Centre refurbishment as part of a wider regeneration initiative with Cumberland Council. Building on this momentum, the team is now preparing tenders for several local projects aimed at enhancing the area for both residents and visitors. Meanwhile, our dedicated M&E team is managing £6M worth of planned Fabric and M&E maintenance across Westmorland and Furness Council’s corporate and educational estates, ensuring essential infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards.
On site, progress is underway on a vibrant café and community hub on Walney Island, the refurbishment of the Coroner’s Court in Workington, and a fresh office space for Cumbria Youth Alliance.
Additionally, the team is delivering vital school extensions for multiple local authorities, reinforcing their commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure across the region and ensuring the buildings where our children are educated are safe, modern, and efficient.

As part of working on projects like these, your day-to-day work will include:

  • Electrical condition surveys
  • Electrical design from concept to detail
  • Project management and contract administration
  • Providing early-stage design advice and technical consultancy
  • Managing complex workloads and promote collaboration across disciplines
  • Deliver smart, cost-effective solutions that meet client expectations.
  • Offering advice on Health & Safety, fire safety, and sustainability throughout the design and construction phases, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and best practice standards.
