OVERVIEW

DEC-Elec is an established electrical contracting company entering an exciting phase of growth, with a strong focus on commercial, industrial, and public sector projects. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Business Development Manager to drive new business, secure high-value contracts, and strengthen our presence in the commercial market.
This role will suit a results-driven professional with a proven background in MEP, facilities management, or electrical contracting sales. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering our growth strategy.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven track record in business development, sales, or account management within hard services, MEP, or commercial electrical projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical project delivery in commercial, industrial, or public sector environments.
  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing the full sales cycle, from lead generation to contract closure.
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to identify profitable opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales reporting tools.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Relevant qualification in electrical engineering, business, or facilities management (desirable).

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to drive revenue growth in commercial electrical projects.
  • Identify, qualify, and convert new business opportunities through networking, market research, and direct outreach.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and key decision-makers.
  • Lead the tendering and bidding process, producing high-quality proposals, presentations, and cost submissions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (operations, engineering, finance) to ensure project feasibility, profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and market shifts to inform sales strategy.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements, ensuring favourable terms and compliance with company policies.
  • Meet and exceed sales targets, maintaining a healthy and well-qualified sales pipeline.
  • Deliver regular sales reports, forecasts, and updates to the Commercial Director.
