Description

ABOUT THE ROLEWhat’s the role all about?
This is more than just maintenance – it’s about keeping one of the UK’s most advanced Energy-from-Waste (EfW) facilities running safely, efficiently and reliably, every single day.
As Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be right at the heart of our operations, working alongside the Maintenance Manager and Plant Leadership Team to deliver world-class asset performance. You’ll help plan and manage all maintenance activities across the site – driving availability, performance, and compliance, while keeping everything running like clockwork.
If you enjoy variety, ownership, and being trusted to make a real impact, this role has your name on it.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead and coordinate the full lifecycle of our plant and equipment – from preventative to reactive maintenance, as well as condition-based strategies – ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring smooth operation of:

  • Waste-fired high-pressure boilers
  • Flue gas treatment systems
  • Steam turbine generators
  • Ash handling equipment
  • HV systems and distributed control (DCS) systems
  • The wider balance of plant

Day to day, you’ll be:

  • Championing health, safety and environmental standards – making sure we’re always operating safely and compliantly
  • Supporting outage planning and delivery – making every second of downtime count
  • Working with cross-functional teams and contractors to deliver effective maintenance strategies
  • Ensuring our operating and emergency procedures are robust, compliant, and aligned with OEM recommendations
  • Managing documentation and reporting through modern digital systems
  • Driving continuous improvement in performance, safety and reliability

What you’ll bring

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • HNC/HND or higher in Mechanical, Electrical or C&I Engineering (or another power generation-related discipline)
  • IOSH or NEBOSH Managing Safely (or similar)
  • Strong technical knowledge of steam raising plant, power generation, and process equipment
  • At least 2 years’ experience in outage planning and execution
  • Competency using systems like MS Project, Excel and CMMS platforms
  • An understanding of CDM regulations and working safely in a high-risk environment
