ASSOCIATE ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - NEWCASTLE - COMPETITIVE SALARY + BENEFITS

A key client of mine is currently looking for Electrical Design Engineers (Building Services) to join their growing Newcastle team. This is a senior role with responsibility for leading the design and delivery of electrical building services across a range of sectors, including commercial, residential, education, and healthcare.
You’ll play a key role in shaping projects from concept through to completion, providing technical leadership, mentoring junior staff, and representing the business in client and design team meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree, HND, or HNC in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Professional qualification (IEng/CEng) and membership of relevant body (CIBSE or equivalent).
Responsibilities
  • Undertake the design of electrical building services, including schematic layouts, drawings, and supporting calculations.
  • Carry out detailed design tasks such as:


    • Building load assessments

    • Cable calculations and sizing
    • Internal and external general/emergency lighting design (Relux/Amtech/Hevacomp)
    • Containment selection and sizing
    • Selectivity studies and protective device specification
    • Transformer selection and fault current analysis
    • Prepare and deliver technical reports, specifications, and design documentation.
    • Monitor on-site works and provide technical support throughout construction.
    • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and other disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
    • Provide guidance, support, and mentoring to colleagues; lead technical seminars for junior engineers.
    • Stay up to date with regulatory standards and ensure compliance with company quality and safety systems.
    • Ensure CAD/Revit outputs meet company standards and project requirements.
