Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30 AM – 04:30 PM

Role Overview:
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will use AutoCAD (or similar CAD tools) to create precise electrical design drawings and schematics for various installations. Working closely with both the sales team and clients, you will transform initial design concepts into detailed technical drawings, while ensuring the designs meet industry standards. You will also participate in design reviews, adjusting designs for efficiency, functionality, and aesthetic quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and produce electrical layouts using AutoCAD for a variety of projects.
  • Collaborate with clients and the sales team to refine and finalize design concepts.
  • Review designs to improve functionality, efficiency, and overall appearance.
  • Maintain CAD libraries, templates, and project files to ensure consistency across projects.
  • Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assist in procurement activities as needed.
  • Stay up to date with the latest design trends and implement best practices in the process.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure design deliverables are completed on time.
  • Provide technical support related to CAD and design processes to internal teams.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards and company guidelines throughout the design process.

About You:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or a related field).
  • At least 3 years of experience in electrical design, with strong AutoCAD (or similar design software) skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and design specifications accurately.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high-quality CAD modelling and documentation.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving abilities to quickly address and resolve design issues.
  • Excellent time management skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
  • Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools within CAD is a plus.
  • A solid understanding of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems is highly desirable.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience using AutoCAD for electrical design.
  • At least 3 years of experience in electrical design roles.
  • Ability to reliably commute to or relocate to Loughborough before starting work.
