REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 7+ years of experience designing and testing electronics in R&D or product development settings
• Proficiency in PCB design tools (Altium, KiCad, Eagle, or OrCAD)
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, sensors, power management, and mixed-signal design
• Hands-on experience with prototyping and lab debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)
• Comfortable working independently and delivering results on a contract basis
• Must be on-site in Louisville, KY

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Prior work in medical device, IoT, or wearable technology development
• Experience with low-power wireless (BLE, Wi-Fi, cellular, etc.)
• Familiarity with design for EMC/EMI, safety, and regulatory standards (e.g., FCC, CE, UL)
  Background in battery-powered or power-constrained product design
  Available on-site at our headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a fractional or contract-based Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support our R&D team in bringing next-generation hardware products to life. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who wants to make a high-impact contribution on a flexible basis while working on innovative, early-stage technologies.
You’ll take the lead on circuit design, prototyping, and electrical integration—from schematic to functional validation—and play a key role in maturing our product for field and manufacturing readiness.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and validate analog and digital circuits for early-stage hardware prototypes
• Create schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs using Altium Designer, KiCad, or similar tools
• Lead hands-on prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting with minimal supervision
• Work collaboratively with firmware and mechanical teams to ensure seamless system integration
• Guide hardware through early compliance and DFM considerations
• Provide technical documentation and recommendations for future scaling
• Participate in design reviews and serve as a subject matter expert on electrical systems
