Description

We are now looking to fill this permanent position to be based at our Head Office in Chippenham with potential flexible working arrangements on completion of a thorough training period.
HUBER Technology is an “Investors in People” Gold company which specialises in environmental engineering throughout the world, and with a UK operation based in Chippenham focused on delivering wastewater treatment solutions for the UK water industry.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will join a small, collaborative team responsible for the design of both bespoke and standard control panels, as well as electrical installation schematics, for a variety of wastewater treatment projects.
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer with strong interpersonal abilities and a solid understanding of low-voltage motor control panel design. Working closely with the Lead Electrical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of panel layout drawings and electrical installation designs, ensuring all control systems meet required performance, safety, and compliance standards while remaining technically and commercially viable.
A minimum of 2 years using electrical design software is vital, preferably in machinery or industrial automation.

Your core responsibilities are:

  • Create detailed electrical schematics, 2D layouts, and wiring diagrams for control panels, compliant with customer specifications and industry standards using CAD software for electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems into new machinery.
  • Support the panel assembly team during build and testing phases of control panels.
  • Document design revisions, support DCNs (Design Change Notices), and participate in design reviews.
  • Support the commissioning team to ensure successful FAT and SAT.

Your profile:

  • You will have completed a formal qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • You can demonstrate a practical approach to engineering to develop cost effective solution that meet customer requirements.
  • You will be proficient in CAD software for electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar).
  • You ideally will have experience with machine safety and functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849).
  • You will have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • You will enjoy the technical aspects in this role.
  • You will ideally have gained experience in a dynamic engineering role and you are able to enjoy the attention to detail.
  • You will enjoy working with a variety of people and able to apply a logical approach to your work.
  • You will need to be conversant with an internal ERP system after a period of training.

The role requires somebody who enjoys managing specialized work efficiently, with confidence and competence with the opportunity to become a technical expert on HUBER products, as well as interfacing with different internal and external stakeholders. The position requires attention to detail, concern for the exact correctness of work, and strong commitment to tasks completed on time whilst being enthusiastic about learning.
As the right candidate, you will be highly self-motivated and driven to get things done whilst being able to focus on the precision of your work and develop an understanding of the different specifications of our clients. You are conscientious and resourceful and you enjoy a sense of ownership of the tasks and projects given.
We offer an interesting role that provides ownership, a competitive salary and benefits package as well as sound development opportunities in an organisation that has strong core values and where people matter to help to protect and enhance the environment.
