Actemium Panel Shop Toronto is seeking a team player who has experience with schematic design for industrial control panels, or in electrical, controls and automation systems design in manufacturing environments. Target segments include food, beverage, life science and water/wastewater industries.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience with AutoCAD.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Strong project management and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of the equipment and systems installed in the manufacturing facilities for Food, Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Water and Wastewater
  • Microsoft 365 Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact at all levels of a manufacturing organization
  • Valid class G driver’s license and personal transportation to travel to customer job sites

BENEFICIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with EPLAN Pro Panel
  • Proficiency in creating 3D macros and using smart wiring/production features.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience in developing and maintaining AutoCAD Electrical drawings and documentation.
  • Knowledge of machine safety Z432-16
  • Knowledge of hazardous area classifications

Actemium Toronto is an established leader in controls integration, project management, and engineering services for a wide range of clients in a variety of industries. The main industries we support include Food & Beverage, Brewing, Life Sciences and Water/Wastewater. This is a full-time permanent role reporting directly to the Electrical Design Manager. The Panel Shop team consists of a high-performance group of managers, engineers, and technicians.

Specific Accountabilities include:

  • Design and develop electrical schematics using AutoCAD, EPLAN P8/ EPLAN Pro Panel.
  • Create and manage 3D macros and utilize AutoCAD and EPLAN Pro Panel for panel layout and design.
  • Implement smart wiring and production techniques to optimize electrical designs.
  • Create and update templates, forms, and schemes according to company standards.
  • Generate reports including bill of materials, terminal reports, cable diagrams, etc., using AutoCAD and EPLAN.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Electrical for supplementary design tasks and integration.
  • Create and update electrical control schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of AutoCAD Electrical designs with company standards.
  • Assist with project proposals, project kick-offs, design reviews, FATs, and project closeout.
  • Preparing the release of drawings for fabrication.
  • Some travel may be required to various project sites

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

The Electrical Designer is a key member of our team responsible for the development of electrical control panel schematics for various projects. This role involves working from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other relevant data to ensure the successful design and implementation of electrical systems. The Electrical Designer plays a crucial role in project proposals, kick-offs, design reviews, panel fabrication support, Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), and project closeout.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

The success of the Electrical Designer in this role is measured by the ability to contribute to the seamless execution of projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and meeting all specified project deliverables. Assignments will consist of projects within the Greater Toronto Area with the potential of projects to be located across Canada/USA. To be successful in this role, the incumbent must be positive and cheerful, hands on, adaptable, enjoy taking on challenges, and able to cut through the small stuff to get the job done. Candidates will be considered based on years of engineering experience, specifically in the food, beverage, and life science and water/wastewater industries.
