Description

RDZ Engineers, a dynamic mechanical and electrical engineering firm, is looking for an Electrical Designer (EIT) to join our fast-paced growing team. When you join us, you will work directly with Senior Engineers and Project Managers to develop projects from conceptual design through to construction administration.
As part of your role, you will be responsible to assist Project Managers in the design of electrical systems and construction administration activities.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Preparing drawings, specifications, and reports necessary to deliver a project.
  • Preparation of design drawings using AutoCAD software.
  • Performing electrical load calculations.
  • Preparing single line diagrams.
  • Preparing interior /exterior lighting layouts.
  • Preparing fire alarm system layouts.
  • Preparing Intrusion detection system, Video surveillance system, computer/data system, public address system layouts.
  • Preparing power layouts.
  • Sizing conduit /wiring for feeder and branch circuits.
  • Preparing electrical site plans for incoming utility services, transformer location, electrical and communication duct banks etc. and coordinate with utility companies.
  • Coordinating with electrical equipment suppliers for equipment selection, sizing, and electrical room layouts.
  • Coordinating with other project team members, including architectural, mechanical, and structural disciplines.
  • Preparing project specific electrical details, and electrical panel schedules.
  • Review and application of relevant building codes and standards.
  • Assist Engineers and Project Managers with site reviews to gather existing building information.
  • Attend project design meetings as required.
  • Assist in construction administration tasks by reviewing shop drawings, preparing change notices / site instructions, conducting site reviews, etc.

Qualifications:

  • One or more years of industry experience in an electrical design role.
  • Working towards Professional License (P. Eng.) from PEO.
  • Degree from an electrical engineering program.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Electrical Safety Code and CSA standards.
  • Working knowledge of building electrical systems including but not limited to; Electrical load calculations, Single line diagrams, designing interior /exterior lighting layouts, lighting photometric calculations, fire alarm and life safety systems, public address system, Intrusion detection system, Video surveillance system, computer/data system etc.
  • Coordination with other disciplines.
  • Coordination with hydro and communication companies.
  • Experience working in AutoCAD. Experience with REVIT is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a team player.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure, and deal with deadlines.
  • Open to learning, developing new skills/knowledge.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
