With rapid growth and an international customer base, AVSS is looking for an Intermediate Electrical Designer with a primary focus on assisting the team with PCB and Electrical Design.
The company is looking for an individual that has more than 4 years of relevant experience in PCB and Electrical Design. We are looking for a candidate that has been a part of a company that has commercialized and manufactured commercial hardware, aerospace and/or IoT products.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BSc, MSc, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in embedded system architecture and development
  • Experience working with and integrating various types of sensors (IMU/accelerometers, pressure, magnetometers, LIDAR, imaging, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of communication protocols (ex. I2C, UART, SPI, USB, CAN, etc.)
  • Experience working with wireless protocols (ex. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LoRa, NFC)
  • Some experience using M2M cellular connectivity modems (LTE CAT-M1, NB-IoT)
  • Strong schematic design and miniaturized PCB layout experience (Altium or Eagle preferred)
  • Experience designing multilayer and flex PCBs
  • Circuit analysis/debugging and PCB bring-up/debugging experience
  • Knowledge of product manufacturing processes and quality management systems
  • Experience of CE testing/certification and EMI/EMC testing
  • Some familiarity with aviation and/or automotive standards and requirements

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the full development cycle, from requirements analysis, design, development, implementation, validation, documentation, and ongoing support
  • Analyze product requirements and support the team in creating a detailed hardware architecture and formal structured design
  • Prepare design documentation for new products and components such as PCBA engineering specifications, drawings, and test reports.
  • Work with firmware engineers who develop algorithms and application code for embedded controllers.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure testability, manufacturability, and scalability
  • Generate and execute hardware development and verification plans including hardware schedule, design reviews, troubleshooting hardware/manufacturing issues
