Description Novaspect, Inc., an Emerson Impact Partner and a global leader in automation systems and solutions, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Designer Intern to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in industrial automation while working alongside experienced engineers and designers on real-world projects. As an intern, you will contribute to meaningful work that supports both active projects and long-term design standardization efforts, helping improve how we deliver high-quality solutions to our customers. Electrical Designer Intern Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Support the development and enhancement of department drawing and design standards Assist in creating, organizing, and improving electrical design documentation and templates used across projects Collaborate with engineers and designers to standardize drawings, symbols, and best practices Gain exposure to automation system design including power distribution, instrumentation, and control panel design Assist in preparing electrical drawings and documentation for system power, communication networks, and I/O systems Participate in team design reviews and contribute ideas for continuous improvement Support ongoing projects by organizing drawings, reviewing documentation, and assisting with design updates Learn and apply industry-standard electrical drafting tools and software Contribute to a team environment focused on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement Requirements Electrical Designer Intern Education/Experience: Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field Interest in industrial automation, control systems, or electrical design Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications Exposure to AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks, or similar tools is a plus Electrical Designer Intern Other Requirements: Strong interest in electrical design, automation, and industrial systems Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges in a hands-on environment Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work Good organizational, time management, and communication skills Willingness to learn and follow established engineering standards and practices Exposure to CAD or drafting tools is a plus but not required Electrical Designer Intern Physical Requirements: Ability to work extended hours on a computer Ability to work in an office and occasional industrial environment Electrical Designer Intern Schedule & Location Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week Location: Onsite in our Channhassen, MN office Control System Engineer Intern Pay: Compensation is based on the upcoming academic year you will enter after completing the Internship: Sophomore year: $23.00/hr Junior year: $24.00/hr Senior year: $25.00/hr 5th year: $26.00/hr What You’ll Gain: Hands-on experience working on real automation and control system projects Exposure to industry-standard tools, technologies, and design practices Mentorship from experienced engineers and designers Opportunity to contribute to meaningful improvements in design standards and processes Insight into a leading automation solutions provider and potential career paths within the industry Who We Are: Novaspect, Inc., is an employee-owned company that engineers, sells, and services industrial process controls.
