Description
Overview The Electrical Designer Lead is responsible for overseeing the technical design team, addressing complex technical issues, and effectively communicating with internal departments and occasionally with customers. This leadership role will be based in Ripon, WI. Responsibilities Provide daily leadership support to the technical design team. Lead the design and development of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical sub-systems and components, ensuring alignment with project goals and regulatory standards. Oversee the creation of design specifications and test procedures, ensuring thorough documentation and compliance. Lead the design of electrical sub-systems, including wire harnesses, timers, switches, motors, pumps, valves, contactors, and transformers, while mentoring junior team members. Utilize CAD software to generate complex electrical systems, harness designs, and schematics, providing guidance and support to the design team. Coordinate and document tests on electronic components and sub-systems, ensuring accuracy and efficacy. Collaborate with suppliers and in-house personnel on the development and enhancement of sub-systems and components. Integrate marketing specifications and regulatory agency requirements (UL, IEC) into comprehensive sub-system designs. Liaise with manufacturing teams to support production parts and pilot builds, ensuring design integrity. Manage information on production parts using SAP enterprise resource planning software and oversee BOM changes. Approve and release ECNs (Engineering Change Notifications) for new parts and drawing revisions for prototypes and production. Qualifications Education & Experience: Associate’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Electro-Mechanical Technology required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 5+ of electrical/electronics design experience, with leadership experience strongly preferred. Experience in the manufacturing industry is a plus. Skills and Abilities: Proven leadership and mentoring abilities with a strong focus on team development. Exceptional written and oral communication skills suited for leading meetings and presentations. Self-motivated with strong decision-making skills aligned with business objectives. Proficiency using AutoCAD, Windchill, and other relevant CAD software. Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects and lead project teams. Excellent attention to detail and a strategic focus on business priorities. Ability to work independently and drive team performance through project objectives. Travel: Minimal travel; approximately 5% Standard and Physical Requirements: Position involves sitting long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting.
