Come join the TWZ Group team on the exciting Centre Block Rehabilitation Project. We are looking for electrical designers to join our team on this collaborative project.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Electrical Engineering degree, Electrical Technician / Technologist, CET or equivalent education in construction design or related technical background
• Electrical Design / Electrical Engineering skills
• Strong understanding of the VDC/CAD/BIM industry, concepts, practices, and procedures
• BIM / REVIT knowledge should include but not be limited to the following areas: sheets, views, view templates, work sets, links, family creation / manipulation, detail lines, reference plains and lines, model lines, detailing, tables, panel schedule creation, panel schedule organization, panel placement, electrical family association, electrical loading, electrical phase designation, conduit creation, project browser manipulation, scope boxes, visibility and graphics, 3D views, maintain Revit standards.
• Knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
• Ability to research, learn and adopt Autodesk, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and other skills as required to perform tasks efficiently and effectively.
• Knowledge should include familiarity with commercial electrical installation and a proficient ability to use company drafting systems i.e., AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
• Ability to gather information needed to complete tasks by using analytical skills, use of resources and immersive learning skills.
• Ability to obtain a site security clearance; approximate time for processing is approximately two weeks for persons with existing reliability or higher security clearances.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

This is a full-time on-site role for an Electrical Designer located in Ottawa, ON. The Electrical Designer will be responsible for the creation, development, and implementation of installation level design based on the design information that is provided by the engineering drawings and specifications. Daily tasks include designing electrical systems, developing drawings and schematics using BIM – Revit software, collaborating with other project team members, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The electrical designer is responsible for ensuring that the client’s scope of work is properly rendered, coordinated, and maintained through the development of design documents.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability to work full time at the project location, Centre Block.
• Working on site with a team of designers, installers, and technical specialists to produce fully constructable 2D drawings and 3D electrical models.
• Prepare Electrical system design drawings, floor plan layouts, electrical interconnection drawings, installation termination drawings, device circuit wiring; control cabinet layouts; dimensional equipment mounting instructions, operations, matrixes, and technical charts; and record drawings using the latest issue of Revit.
• Prepare basic system wiring configurations, and project submittal drawings, CAD extracts, pdf plans and cuts for design team mark-ups.
• Maintain an accurate set of as built drawings for the main project and each enabling project.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of project workload and rebalance work as needed.
• Attend design meetings, work in shared model space, and coordinate with other trades as required
