  Title:                    Electrical Engineer Business Unit:     Medeco Security Locks Location:              Salem, VA (on-site) Department:        New Product Development Job Class:             Salaried Exempt Status:                 Full-Time Reports To:          New Product Dev Manager     Position Summary:   Medeco Security Locks is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the New Product Development Team. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional responsible for all electrical design functions to support our rapidly expanding electronic security product lines. This position is  on-site at our offices in Salem, VA.   Essential Functions:   Hardware and firmware design for microcontroller-based products. Create/complete electrical component and system-level designs. Create/complete Bills-of-Materials (BOM’s), technical documentation to support electrical designs. Successfully transition new products from concept into production through support, training, and cross-departmental communications. Manage, participate in and lead development teams developing early prototypes with potential customers. Create technical design specifications and test plan requirements. Other duties as assigned   Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering 3+ years work experience – New product development background preferred. Hardware design experience with digital and analog circuits. Experience in design of wireless RF communications. Experience in PCB design, layout and assembly preferably using Altium software. Ambition, energy, and drive to continuously improve processes Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to travel approximately 10%   The Ideal Candidate will have: Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering Experience with battery power optimization, low power electro-mechanical actuators, micro-motors, solenoids. Circuit design and imbedded code development utilizing MicroChip PIC, ATMEL, ARM, microcontrollers. A working knowledge of .NET, TCP/IP, Ethernet, communication protocols. Experience in manufacturing and testing. (HALT, Standards, etc.) Project management skills. Strong team player with excellent time management skills. Strong interpersonal and customer-facing communication skills.
