Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our design and commissioning team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will serve as the discipline lead for electrical engineering across projects. You will be responsible for guiding electrical design from concept through commissioning, ensuring compliance with Canadian Electrical Code, CSA standards, and regulatory requirements. This role includes technical leadership, project budgeting, field support, and mentoring of junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering efforts for water/wastewater treatment and industrial projects, serving as the discipline authority.
  • Develop detailed electrical design documentation (equipment specifications, load lists, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, layouts, etc.).
  • Perform circuit design, control system analysis, and electrical system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, coordination).
  • Conduct power system modelling using SKM or ETAP.
  • Review and evaluate process and mechanical specifications for electrical content.
  • Prepare budgets, scopes, and staffing plans for electrical components of projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian Electrical Code, CSA standards, ABSA requirements, and utility coordination processes.
  • Support construction activities through field inspections and contractor coordination.
  • Provide technical support during commissioning, start-up, and performance testing (approx. 70% office, 30% field).
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Alberta (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • 8–15 years of electrical engineering experience in industrial facilities (water treatment, oil & gas, mining, or similar).
  • Proficiency with SKM/ETAP for power system studies and AutoCAD Electrical (preferred).
  • Proven expertise in power distribution design, load control engineering, and field commissioning.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to liaise effectively with clients and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead discipline teams, mentor staff, and support continuous improvement.

Career Growth
This role offers the opportunity to grow into Electrical Discipline Lead across all ClearBakk projects, with potential succession into senior management roles. Candidates will be expected to shape and strengthen ClearBakk’s electrical engineering capabilities as part of our long-term strategic growth.
