The qualified candidate will join our talented team of nearly 100 employees working to implement award-winning energy savings projects for our valued clients.
We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our team in Brampton, Ontario, supporting the design and manufacturing of HVAC OEM equipment. In this role, you’ll play a key part in developing electrical designs for our OEM HVAC products, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
Using tools such as AutoCAD, Visio, and other industry-standard software, you’ll work closely with our engineering and production teams to support the full product lifecycle—from concept to manufacturing. A strong understanding of HVAC systems, variable frequency drives, control panels, motor controls, wiring schematics, and electrical codes (such as CSA and UL standards) is essential.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
  • MS Visio experience
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Visual Basic for Applications experience
  • Understanding of electrical principles and wiring

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, engineering or related field
  • Understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Understanding of Motor control, FLA calculations for motors and harmonics as they relate to VFDs,
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience designing electrical conduit and wiring
  • 5+ years of experience in an HVAC, sheet metal, or related manufacturing environment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with compressors, fans and pumps,
  • Experience with control system design and PLCs,
  • Power electronics relating to high horsepower variable speed drives and three-phase power (up to 500 HP).
  • SolidWorks

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and components.
  • Ontario Building Code.
  • Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Ontario Electrical Safety Code 24th Edition.
  • Experience working with systems 1000Volts and less.
  • Hands-on experience in an industrial setting, working with electrical, PLC controls, equipment installation, wiring, commissioning and maintenance.
  • PLC and HMI programming, troubleshooting and maintaining backup programming and parameters will be considered an asset.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and reporting skills.
  • Electrical, controls, and PLC experience.

Responsibilities
  • Support and oversee the engineering of low-voltage and motor control panels (MCPs),
  • Support the senior procurement manager in the completion of MCP designs.
  • Perform FLA calculations, breaker, and conduit sizing.
  • Analyze and verify through test the harmonic distortion of motors and drives,
  • Analyze and verify through testing the thermal performance of control panels and components,
  • Modifications/ Redline of MCP drawings.
  • Provide support with wiring practices/ installation in the shop.
  • Make design adjustments to improve the product, quality, and operation of the equipment.
  • Conduct product testing and quality assurance
  • Manage the design timelines as required
