Description
Description ABOUT DELTA BLACK AEROSPACE Delta Black Aerospace is a U.S.-based OEM redefining unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for mission-critical defense applications. Founded and led by former Warfighters and senior industry Subject Matter Experts, Delta Black is developing the RAIDER 330 — a patented Group 3 UAS delivering Group 4 capabilities. The RAIDER 330 features true Hybrid-Electric Propulsion (HEPS), Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) and Extreme Short Takeoff and Landing (E-STOL). Headquartered in McKinney, TX, Delta Black moves at 5x the pace of traditional defense primes. POSITION OVERVIEW Delta Black Aerospace is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to support the development and maturation of the RAIDER 330 UAS. This role sits at the intersection of power systems engineering and avionics integration, with direct responsibility for the Hybrid-Electric Propulsion System (HEPS), onboard power distribution, and electrical subsystem architecture. You will work side-by-side with a lean, high-velocity engineering team to push hardware from prototype to field-ready system. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES » Design, analyze, and test electrical power systems including the Hybrid-Electric Propulsion System (HEPS), battery management, and in-flight recharging architecture » Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring harness designs, and component specifications for all air-borne electrical subsystems » Specify, source, and qualify COTS and custom electrical components for aerospace environments (vibration, temperature, EMI) » Support integration of avionics, flight control computers, payload interfaces, and communication systems » Perform electrical load analysis, power budget calculations, and thermal modeling for all flight configurations » Develop ground support equipment (GSE) and test fixtures for electrical system validation » Write electrical test plans, procedures, and reports in support of airworthiness and customer acceptance testing » Coordinate with mechanical and systems engineers to ensure proper routing, shielding, grounding, and connector selection » Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical anomalies during ground and flight test » Contribute to hardware documentation including ICDs, wiring diagrams, and component specs per AS9100 or equivalent standards Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS » Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related discipline » 3+ years of hands-on electrical engineering experience in aerospace, defense, or UAS environments » Proficiency with electrical design tools such as Altium Designer, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent » Experience with DC power systems, motor controllers, ESCs, and battery management systems » Familiarity with DO-160 environmental qualification testing standards » Strong understanding of EMI/EMC mitigation, shielding techniques, and grounding schemes » Demonstrated ability to take designs from concept through hardware build and test » Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS » Experience with hybrid-electric or electric propulsion systems in aviation or aerospace applications » Familiarity with MIL-STD-461, MIL-HDBK-516, or FAA Part 23/25 electrical standards » Experience with VTOL or fixed-wing UAS platforms » Knowledge of CAN bus, ARINC 429, or MIL-STD-1553 avionics data buses » Background with GPS-denied navigation systems or contested-environment electronics » Active Secret or Top Secret clearance » Experience with small-team, fast-paced startup or SBIR/STTR program environments SECURITY CLEARANCE Active Secret clearance preferred; must be able to obtain Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship required. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS » Competitive base salary commensurate with experience; equity participation available » Full medical, dental, and vision benefits » 401(k) with company contribution » Opportunity for rapid career advancement in a high-growth defense technology company » Direct collaboration with former Warfighters and senior UAS industry experts » Potential for travel to test sites and partner facilities
Responsibilities
The Electrical Engineer will design, analyze, and test power systems and avionics for the RAIDER 330 UAS. They will also manage electrical schematics, wiring harnesses, and component specifications while supporting integration and validation testing.
